Looking For A NYAW Producer Education Committee Chair

New York Agri-Women is in need of a Chair (or Co-Chair) of the Producer Education Committee.  Immediately, the Chair(s) will lead the NYAW Producer Education Committee and help plan educational events for the Annual Meeting next spring.  Producer educational activities may range from business education to animal husbandry.

We are starting a new column called “Ask A New York Agri-Woman” where women involved in the New York food and agriculture community to ask questions relating to their specific industry.  Answers will be posted on this blog and your identity will remain anonymous.  New York Agri-Women have a wealth of knowledge.  The NYAW Producer Education Committee is ready to roll up its sleeves and help you.

Are You Interested In Helping NYAW Develop Resource Guides?

I’m looking for some volunteers to help the Producer Education Committee develop some resource guides such as “How To Market An Agri-Business,”  ”How To Be an Agvocate Using Social Media,” “How To Start A Garden in Your Backyard,” and “How To Develop a Business Plan.”

Oneida County Meet-up

The Oneida County meet-up is being planned for November 12 from 11:00-1:00 at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Offices in Oriskany.  There will be a small fee for lunch.  I am currently working on speaker for the meet-up.  I’m hoping for a nice turn-out!

Information for Flood Victims

Danielle Penney is a new member of NYAW and offered some links for information for flood victims. Thank you Danielle–many need this information! She had a roundtable discussion last week and attended an emergency meeting for producers yesterday in Orange County with approximately 200 + in attendance. There was a panel set up with approximately 15 people from the following agencies – FEMA, FSA, NYS Dept of Ag & Markets, Cooperative Extension, NYCAMH, Farm Credit East, Quality Milk, Soil & Water Conservation, Crop Growers Insurance & NYS Department of Labor.
